Rosemere Backpackers is very conveniently located in Wellington’s central downtown area. All of Wellington’s major attractions are within walking distance from Rosemere.
A real bonus for not only the budget minded but for the overseas tourist is that once at Rosemere a vehicle is not required. Take your time to stroll about the Capital to see what Wellington has on offer. Wellington big on things to see and do, but small in scale.

Rosemere: Your stopover in Wellington on either your journey to or from the South Island
Wellington is home to the Interislander and Bluebridge Ferry Services to or from the South Island of New Zealand. The Bluebridge Ferry is a 20 minute walk to/from our hostel and the Interislander is a $10 per person shuttle ride to/from our hostel.
Book into Rosemere for a couple of days and explore the Capital and on your day of departure we can organise your transport to/from either ferry terminals.
Airport
Rosemere Backpackers is approximately 7 kms from the Wellington Domestic and International Airport Terminal. Both Shuttles and Cabs will drop you at our door. Costs are $15 in a shuttle with each additional person $5 extra if travelling with 2 or more people. A cab will cost $35 maximum.
An Airport Flyer Shuttle Bus also leaves from outside the terminal and will drop you in the middle of town leaving you a short walk up Dixon Street to MacDonald Crescent where Rosemere Backpackers is located.
How to get around
Buses run regularly in and around Wellington. If you are planning to visit something outside Wellington there is a train service run by TransMetro. The station is a 15 minute walk from Rosemere from where you can travel North to the suburbs or up to the Kapiti Coast or even over to the wine area of the well known Wairapa winery area. Sample the local produce!!
